First taste of League success for Castle Bar

Castle Bar got their 1st victory in the Vintners League, with a steady win over Red Star B.

First to the butts were Cliff Richie and Margaret Barry. Cliff (100,100) took the 1st leg with a double 5 finish, Margaret left on 4. Mar
garet then got the score level in leg 2 with a double top finish with Cliff on 16. The final leg could have went either way with Cliff (137) fininshing on the 'mad house' double 1, Margaret on 16.

James Kelly produced a fine preformance in match 2 against Colin Crothers. James (180,100) hit a maximum score and also won the first leg with a 20 finish against Colin (140) left 40. James (140,100) won his match 2-0 by hitting double 10 and leaving Colin back on 120.

The Castle Bar Captain Greg Harper was up next against Jackie Wilson. Greg (140,100) took an easy 1st leg finishing on double top leaving Jackie on 100+. Jackie (133,95) had a chance in the next leg but Greg (135,100) proved to strong on the doubles and hit double top.

Game 4 was Paul Richie and Anntoinnette Barry. Paul Richie (100) made sure of a point for the Castle when finishing on Double 8 and Double 2 leaving Anntoinnette Barry (99) back on 83 and 40.

Lee King was up next against Kevin Conlon. It was Lee(160) who won the first leg with a double 4 finish and Kevin needing 74. It was one step closer to the Castles first win and the next leg was a better leg between the two with Lee (100,100) finishing on 50 and making sure of the Castle's first victory, Kevin (100,95) left on 40.

Linda McDowell made sure there wasn't going to be a white wash when she beat Shane. Linda (121) took the lead with a double 5 finish and Shane (109) needing 16. Shane (100) fought back in the next leg with a 20 finish and Linda (95) left with 40. Final leg saw Linda (100) taking out double 11 for a 2-1 win.

PAIRS - Cliff Richie (100) and Lee King lost 2-0 to Linda McDowell (135,121) and Jackie Wilson (95). Greg Harper and Paul Richie beat Kevin Conlon and Colin Crothers 2-0.

Higgins 2

Young Guns 6

The Young Guns maintain their 100% record in the Vintners League with an emphatic win over their oppenents Higgins.

Michael Kennedy gave the Young Guns the lead with a 2-0 win over the hard fought Billy Bell. Michael (100,137) eventually hit double 4 with Billy (100,95) also on the same double in the first leg. Michael (100) played his 'get out of jail' card when a fine scoring Billy (140,100,95) got stuck on 9 and Mickey (100) took advantage and finished on double top.

The in-form John Mckee(100,100) streched his winning streak to 3 out of 3 against Eamon Savage, taking the 1st leg as the two battled it out on the 'mad house' double 1. Leg 2 saw John (100,97,97) throw steady darts and took out a fine finish of 68 leaving Eamon back on 186.

Mark Foulkes and Guns Captain Garreth Moody were next to the oche and Garreth (95,95) took the first leg with a 37 finish.
