RACEVIEW took another step towards a first Ballymena and Provincial Intermediate League title for several seasons at the weekend.
In the only game played in the Michelin Athletic Club-sponsored championship, Jason Cairns' side had a 4-1 win at Cookstown Olympic – the perfect response to a midweek O'Gorman Cup exit at the hands of neighbours Clough Rangers Athletic.
Raceview now face another testing examination of their title credentials this Saturday when they travel to Dunloy.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE
Cookstown Olympic 1, Raceview 4: Raceview kept up their challenge for league honours after this good win over Cookstown who, after having a good start to the season, have slipped up a few times recently.
Raceview took the lead on the 16th minute when Matt Boyd converted a penalty then doubled their score after Gareth Mott scored on the 35th minute.
Cookstown tried hard to get back into the game but a two goal burst by Raceview with goals scored by Gareth Mott and David Tennant on the 65th and 69th minutes killed off their hopes.
Cookstown did get on the score sheet when Gary Maguire scored on the 87th minute.
O'GORMAN CUP ROUND ONE
Result: Ballynure Old Boys 4, Desertmartin 2.
Midweek results: Clough Rangers Athletic 2, Raceview 1; Kilbride Swifts 3, Brantwood 8.
JUNIOR DIVISION ONE
Newtownabbey Sevens 2, Chimney Corner Reserves 3: This was a good win for Corner who had a great start to the season but then fell behind after losing a number of players to the first team mid-way through.
Newtownabbey who have been in good form of late went behind after Jonny Graham scored for Corner on the 22nd minute but then saw Dave Ramsey scored the equaliser on the 31st minute.
Corner regained the lead after Jamie Nutter scored on the 55th minute but Newtownabbey came back with a second equaliser Paul Moffatt scoring on the 61st minute.
