£250,000 road scheme for Garvaghy Road
WORK on a £250,000 road resurfacing scheme is to start on Garvaghy Road later this month.
The resurfacing work is due to begin on Tuesday, January 29 between The Park entrance and Moy Road. As with all works of this nature planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any unavoidable change.
To help minimise disruption to road users and to meet strict health and safety regulations, the road will be closed to through traffic while work is ongoing. In order to minimise disruption to traffic and to maintain the safety of road users and general public, the road will be closed to through traffic for a period of two weeks from Monday, January 28 to Friday, February 8 inclusive.
Minister Danny Kennedy said, “This scheme is a significant investment in the local roads network. Roads Service has made every effort to manage these necessary works to minimise inconvenience to the public.
“However, there will be some disruption to traffic while these improvements are being made and we would ask all road users to exercise care and patience and allow additional time when planning journeys.”
The work is expected to be complete by February 8.
Whilst the work is in progress, clearly signed diversion routes will be in operation. Traffic travelling out of town will be diverted via Park Road, Obins Street and Charles Street. Traffic travelling towards town will be diverted via Northway, Mill Avenue, Castle Street and Garvaghy Road.
