Look good for summer with slimmer programme
A NEW six-week Slimmer Summerthon is under way courtesy of Amanda Girvan, Slimming World’s consultant in Portadown.
Starting from April 9, Amanda launched the initiative after a survey found that more than half of us spoil our summer holidays before we’ve even packed our bikinis because we’re self-conscious and worried about wearing a swimming costume in public or getting into the pool in front of others.
Slimmers who join the campaign are being encouraged to get sponsored to lose weight and, for the duration of the six weeks, Slimming World will donate £1 for every 1lb group members lose as part of the slimathon – with all funds going to the NSPCC/ISPCC.
Amanda is inviting slimmers to bring friends and family along and get together to kick start their weight loss in time for sunnier weather. “We’re encouraging people to get sponsored because we know that commitment and motivation are super-boosted once you go public with your intentions.” says Amanda.
“That’s why we’ve come up with a Slimmer Summerthon. It will run for six weeks. We’re asking members to tell us where they’d like to be in six weeks’ time and, whether that’s half a stone lighter or a lot more confident, we’ll be working together as a group to give them all the support they need to get there.
“It’s possible to lose a stone or more over six weeks.
“Slimming World’s great Food Optimising eating plan really is extra easy and members lose weight easily without ever going hungry. They still enjoy all their favourite meals, all based on hearty healthy Slimming World recipes. Then each week in group we share more great food ideas and spur each other on for the next week.”
The Portadown Slimming World group meets every Monday at 3.30,5.30 & 7.3pm at Hart Memorial Primary School.
