IT’S all happening at Kilmoriarty Orange Hall at Loughgall this weekend - the 100th anniversary of the Orange Lodge, The Bible and Crown Defenders LOL 31, a £60,000 renovation of the hall, and the unfurling of a new banner.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the day that it happens in ‘threes’ for the lodge - the celebration of the centenary, the dedication of the new-look hall, and the banner unfurling.

The keys were handed over to the lodge yesterday (Thursday) by contractors, Ernest Watt of Dungannon, the project having been granted generously by the International Fund For Ireland via the Rural Development and Awards for All. The contract includes a general upgrade, a new kitchen and toilets. The premises are used by the Ballybay Community Association, by R.H. Bell Memorial Black Preceptory RBP 267 and by the Pride of the Birches Accordion Band for weekly practice.

The rededication of the hall will be carried out in a service tomorrow (Saturday) at 2.30pm by Rev Canon Bill Adair, Rector of St Columba’s Parish Church and the banner will be unfurled by Mrs Florence Dunlop, wife of the late Deputy Worshipful Master of the Lodge Herbert Dunlop, with the proceedings overseen by current Worshipful Master Cyril Partridge. Prayers will be conducted by Cecil Allen, Portadown District Chaplain, and special guests will be Darryl Hewitt, Portadown District Master, Denis Watson, County Grand Master and Sydney Anderson MLA.

The offering will be in aid of the NI Children’s Hospice and a vote of thanks will be given by Ian Freeburn, Deputy Master of LOL 31. The hymns will be ‘O God Our Help in Ages Past’ and ‘Lord For the Years’. The service will end with The National Anthem and there will be refreshments after a short parade.
