Mid-term fun at The Argory of Ardress House

Weekend fun at Ardress House.

Weekend fun at Ardress House.

THE National Trust properties Adress House and The Argory are two venues to enjoy over the coming mid-term weekend.

Just 20 minutes from Portadown, Ardress offers a day of fun and relaxation for the family. Take a tour to discover the history behind this charming 17th centuryfarmhouse, famous for the elegant neo-classical drawing room, with plasterwork by Michael Stapelton.

The kids will love the adventure play park, not to mention the farmyard animals. See the soay sheep, pygmy goats and ducks and feed the chickens in the charming cobbled farmyard. Completing the atmosphere of the working farmyard, the threshing barns, dairy, forge, milking parlour and cart house are all waiting to be explored.

Just four miles from Ardress, the Argory estate is also open to visitors this weekend. bChildren can explore the Birkenhead Room to hear more about Captain Shelton’s adventures at sea – pretend to be a pirate and discover The Argory treasure trail.

Take a walk around the estate to see the remaining snowdrops before relaxing in the warm surroundings of the Courtyard Coffee Shop over a homemade soup, savoury scone or a hot chocolate deluxe. Visit the gift shop to pick up some bargains in the sale or the second hand bookshop, packed with hundreds of adults and children’s books.

The Argory and Ardress will be open for school mid term break from tomorrow (Saturday) to Tuesday, February 19. Call 028 8778 4753 for more information or visit facebook.com/MidUlsterProperties
