JAMIE ELLIOTT

ON Tuesday the 14th of February, Hart Memorial hockey team went to Drumgor to play a hockey match.

The match started off very difficult for both sides as for the first five minutes no one had scored. Drumgor, in the last five minutes of the first half, scored a goal. Max, our goal keeper fell trying to save the shot. It hit off his foot allowing a rebound to be taken. They hit it hard into our net. It wasn’t looking good for the Hart, but at the last minute of the first half Ryan Woods ran through Drumgor’s defence and slotted the ball perfectly in to the bottom left corner, making the score 1-1.

Just at the start of the second half, a big, white dog ran on to the pitch and stole one of our hockey balls. After about five minutes of the dog’s madness, Mrs Brown made an epic attempt to get the dog out. She grabbed a ball and ran for the gate with the dog following close behind. Finally, the dog was out and thanks to Mrs Brown, our match was underway. Both teams were determined to get the second goal. Drumgor had got the ball into our half and nearly scored but luckily, our great defence stopped them and got the ball out of our half and into theirs.

We had had many shots and we were determined to win. Adam Hall had possession of the ball and hit it through to Ryan Woods. He hit it right at the goal keeper. It hit off his leg and went right into the net. With that, the final whistle had blown and we had won the match 2-1

It was a great performance from all players, but Ryan was definitely the player of the match. He gave his all through the whole match and deserved his two goals.
