Tandragee road to be resurfaced

CUSHER DUP Councillors Gareth Wilson and Terry McWilliams have welcomed a commitment by Roads Service to resurface the Madden Road in Tandragee.

The route, which is deteriorating rapidly due to the extremely wet weather, has been causing concern amongst residents and motorists and both councillors are pleased that a commitment has been given to resurface the road to the Canal bridge.

Mr Wilson stated, “We have been contacted by many motorists regarding this issue and it is welcomed that the road has been placed on the work programme for resurfacing. I hope that this can be carried out in the not too distant future as the route is in quite a bad state of repair.

“Our roads in generally have suffered due to the bad weather and mixture of rain and ice and the weather certainly hasn’t helped the local roads network.”

Mr McWilliams stated, “There is a particularly bad pothole close to Tullyhugh Park on the Madden Road which has been repaired in recent days however the road remains extremely rough and I know that drivers are concerned both from a road safety perspective and the wear and tear on their vehicles.”

He concluded, “To have the stretch of road from the town out to the canal bridge resurfaced will be a great help for everyone who travels this route and we look forward to the work commencing.”
