CITYBEAT is staging auditions this Sunday (November 2) in the hope of finding five lucky singers aged 8-16 to form the 'Young Star Christmas Group' who will get the opportunity to record a festive single and perform in front of thousands of people at a number of high-profile events.
The young singers’ first performance will be at the Belfast Christmas light switch-on, an event attended by almsot 20,000 people last year.
Citybeat Afternoon Drive presenter, Stuart Robinson, who will be hosting the Young Star Christmas Tour, exp
lained what the judges will be looking for on Sunday.
He said, “During the summer months Citybeat runs the ‘Young Star Search’. Now, leading up to Christmas, we want to find five talented young singers to join our winners Rachel Pearson from Dungannon and Caitlin McClurg from Bangor to create the ultimate Northern Ireland kids pop group.
“There will only be one audition on one day, so anyone aged 8-16 who wants to give it ago should practice a well-known song and be ready to give the judges their best shot this Sunday.”
The various Christmas events will also feature performances by various Young Star Search finalists from heats staged in Craigavon, Belfast, Ballyclare, Bangor, Carrick, Newtownabbey, Newtownards and Lisburn.
Sunday’s auditions will take place at Grove Well Being Centre, York Road, Belfast and anyone wishing to try out should attend with an adult anytime between 9am and 4pm.
Judges will include Citybeat DJ Robin Eliott and local hit maker Mickey Modelle.
