Friends and neighbours in Portadown are invited to take part in a free get-together to build community spirit.

The Big Lunch is returning to Northern Ireland on Sunday, June 7 for the seventh year, with free lottery-funded packs available to residents, groups and schools.

One of the lunches in Portadown last year was the Big Pink one at Goal Line Youth Trust in association with Asda which helped raise funds for breast cancer research.

The lunch is supported by The Big Lottery Fund, and sponsored this year by ASDA and Halifax.

Elaine Livingstone, community life champion at the Portadown Asda store, said, “I have been volunteering at Big Lunches for several years and each one is special, whether its neighbours getting to know each other on a street or a school or group bringing the community together.

“It’s always a special day because everyone is taking the time to share and to get to know each other better.”

To take part, visit www.thebiglunch.com for a FREE pack or call 0845 850 8181 to speak to one of the team for further information.
