Free family activities are on offer at two locations this weekend as part of European Heritage Open Days.
Moneypenny’s Lockhouse and The Barn Museum at Tannaghmore Gardens will open tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, with the theme being transport.
Tomorrow at Moneypenny’s from 2-5pm, visitors can try their hand at the boat building workshop for 7-11 year olds with local artist Sarah McKnight.
On Sunday afternoon from 2-5pm join Bruce Crawford who will give a demonstration and chat about the curragh, an historical Irish boat.
There will be a chance to see it on the water, weather permitting.
On both Saturday and Sunday from 1-5pm, enjoy an historical walk through time with a tour of the Barn Museum, or visit Tannaghmore Animal Farm to see some of rare breeds which would have been used as means of transport.
Photographs capturing the spirit of the open day can be entered in the ‘Capturing Heritage’ competition for a chance to win a family prize.
