A PUPIL from Hart Memorial School in Portadown has won the travel company’s ‘It’s a Wonderful World. Explore it with us’ art promotion.

Manager Christine McCleery invited nearly 70 six-to-eight-year-olds from the school to draw their idea of a ‘Dream Holiday’, with the best efforts taking pride of place in the store alongside the brochures and photos of faraway places.

Only one winner could be chosen - Aaron Hoyle, a P4 pupil at Hart Memorial School. He was accompanied by his teacher, Mrs Brown, to collect his prize of an Easter hamper, which included chocolate Easter eggs, from the store on Wednesday, 4 April. His drawing featured a dream skiing holiday, with slopes, chalets and snow made from cotton wool.

Christine said, “We had some really lovely entries,” says Christine, “and it really proved that it is a wonderful world. It was a difficult choice to choose a winner but Aaron’s stood out – he clearly has a career ahead in advertising!

“It was interesting that almost all of the drawings featured families as being an essential part of a Dream Holiday, but such stuff are what childhood memories are made of. And large ice creams and exotic milk shakes were an ever present too!”

“All of the children have been really excited by the challenge and we’d like to thank the School Principal, Julie Shipley, for allowing them to take part.

The store has had a great start to the year as Christine explains, “We have been really busy, with Majorca, Florida and Cyprus being the most popular destinations for the people of Portadown.

“Our success is based on knowing our customers and working hard to make sure that they get exactly what they want from their holiday, from the moment they set off to the time they get back with a ‘suitcase’ full of great memories.”
