Duke Special

BELFAST’S Belsonic 2012 has added Newton Faulkner, Duke Special, Alesso, Brian Kennedy, The Answer, Oberhofer, Congorock, Gareth Dunlop, FM, Sweet Savage, DJ Hix and Jody to the bill.

This first batch of supporting act announcements encompasses an eclectic mix of musical styles, including homegrown talent, international live acts, and touring DJ acts. Tickets for all Belsonic shows are on sale now from www.belsonic.com and Ticketmaster outlets.

Newton Faulkner is set to release his eagerly anticipated third LP in July. He’s no stranger to Belfast crowds, and has recently sold out an intimate show in the Belfast Limelight in record time. He returns to Belfast on Saturday, August 25, when he plays main support to James Morrison at Belsonic in Custom House Square. The bill will be opened by local troubadour Gareth Dunlop, with more guests to be announced soon!

Duke Special (pictured right) makes his triumphant return to Belsonic following a historic live performance in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall alongside the Ulster Orchestra. The Duke will be playing alongside Emeli Sande and Foy Vance on Thursday, August 16.

Star of the recent Irish version of The Voice Brain Kennedy will be back in Belfast on Friday, August 24, backing up Tom Jones, while The Answer, Sweet Savage and FM form a heavyweight support bill to warm up for Thin Lizzy on Saturday, August 18.

Swedish DJ & super-producer Alesso will play main support to David Guetta on Sunday, August 26. He is a frequent collaborator with some of the biggest names in electronica, including Avicci, Tiesto and Swedish House Mafia. He joins Italian superstar Congorock CONGOROCK and fast-rising local name DJ HIX.

Brooklyn indie-rockers Oberhofer are set to open for Two Door Cinema Club and Noah and The Whale on Thursday, August 23, and Dublin/Belfast-based pop-punkers Jody Has a Hitlist will play the opening slot for Paramore on Sunday, August 19.
