Dig up some old fossils during the summer
ASPIRING Indiana Jones wannabes across Craigavon can dig deep and get their hands on some stone-age fossils at some upcoming summer archaeology days.
The four archaeology days, which have been organised to celebrate archaeology month, will take place on July 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 10am to 1pm and will be full of fun-filled activities.
From making your own stone-age tools to learning what happens on an archaeological dig to handling precious fossils and artifacts – this is one event for keen archaeologists not to miss.
Elaine Hill, curator at Craigavon Museum Services, said, “This will be a fantastic adventure for all your young ones and will keep them well entertained over the summer holidays. It’s the perfect chance for them to find out more about this interesting topic, local history and scientific techniques associated with archaeology.”
The archaeology day on July 11 will be held at Lurgan Park and the archaeology days on July 4, 18 and 25 will be held at Waterside House on Oxford Island.
The events are aimed at young people aged seven and over. The cost is £3 per day. To book a place contact Craigavon Museum Services on (028) 3834 1635.
