THE Knocknamuckley Parish junior GB choral team have triumphed in a Mid-Ulster choral speaking competition held at Thomas Street Methodist Church.

They beat off competition from Drumcree, Thomas Street Methodist and Epworth Methodist teams to progress to the Northern Ireland final. Second-placed Thomas Street Methodist are also through to the final.

The Knocknamuckley team, along with their leader Isobel McKane, took to the stage and performed an excellent recital of a poem called ‘The Computer Swallowed Grandpa’. Isobel’s coaching shone through in her choral team’s performance because the girls spoke in unison and with superb articulation.

All teams’ performances were of a very high standard but there could only be one winner. The scores were very close between the two top teams on the day. Thomas Street were awarded 86 points and Knocknamcukley Parish were awarded 90 points,

Both 202nd NI Knocknamuckley Parish and 1st NI Thomas Street Methodist junior GB choral speaking teams are through to the NI Junior choral speaking final which takes place tomorrow (Saturday) at Wallace High School Lisburn.
