Music classes set to start

TRADITIONAL music classes are to start in the Portadown area from Monday, January 21.

They will initially feature tuition on the tin whistle, fiddle and mandolin and will be open to all cultural backgrounds and age groups.

The classes will take place in Drumcree College from 3.30 to 5pm on Mondays during school term as well as St Mary’s PS, Maghery, on Fridays from 3.15-4.15pm.

The programme will be launched on Monday at 3.30pm in Drumcree College and registration will also take place on this day and at the start of the classes.

The classes cost £2 per week and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis as numbers are limited.

The music programme, known as Fasttrad, has being organised by the All Set project which has been delivering cross-cultural programmes to primary schools throughout Northern Ireland for over 15 years. It has received funding from the Big Lottery Culture for All to undertake the Fasttrad classes.
