Almost 100 businesses in Portadown have signed up to a ‘Turn Portadown Purple’ event on Wednesday, October 7 to mark World Mental Health Day.

Shops and restaurants will be among those displaying purple ribbons and balloons and putting purple stock
on display.

And in High Street Mall between 11am and 4pm, a number of charities will be setting up stalls to provide information and raise awareness of positive mental
health.

They include Action Mental Health MensSana, organisers of the event, as well as PIPS Upper Bann, Samaritans, Adapt, Cruse, Community Intercultural Programme, Care in Crisis, Yellow Ribbon, Lifeline and Rural Support.

Tesco will also be there helping to promote healthy living and the Civic Centre will light up purple that evening.
