SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Grace Hagan from Portadown has won the coveted title of Little Miss High Street Mall 2009.
Grace beat off competition from 14 other entrants in the finale Magic in the Mall event, following a newspaper poll carried out in the Portadown Times, Banbridge Leader and Lurgan Mail.
The runners-up were five-year-old Charlotte Thompson, from Ta
ndragee, who was in second place, and six-year-old Grace McShane, from Craigavon, who was third.
The 15 entrants competed for title of Little Miss High Street Mall 2009 last Saturday at High Street Mall.
At the final, the top placings were judged by Nuala Meenahan from Models EG, following a parade on a catwalk complete with cloak and crown, and a short interview by DJ Pip from Magic 105FM.
As well as the competition, the music and craic, the shopping audience got to enjoy free face painting, candyfloss and the twisting skills of a balloon modeller throughout the afternoon.
Tracey Jackson, manager of the High Street Mall, was delighted with how the event went.
She said, “The girls all got to be princesses for the afternoon as they each did their ‘turn’ on the red carpet and everyone went home happy. Members of the audience all had a smile on their face as each little one took to the stage. It was a great day of free family fun, which is what we regularly offer our shoppers at High Street Mall, and this particular event has become a highlight of our calendar of free family events.
“As well as receiving £100 High Street Mall shopping vouchers and a framed print of their entry photo courtesy of Colin McMullen Photography, Grace will get the chance to participate in on our events throughout the year – a highlight of which is sitting beside Santa as he’s escorted through the town to the Mall for Christmas.”
The competition is a combined activity between High Street Mall, the Portadown Times, the Banbridge Leader, the Lurgan Mail and award-winning photographer Colin McMullen.
