The man who died after Thursday’s angling accident in the Republic has been named locally as David Warnock.

Mr Warnock, a father-of-one in his 20s who was living in Richhill, is a relative of Ulster Unionist Councillor Colin McCusker.

A second man, thought to be in his 50s, remains in hospital after a fishing trip at Lough Ree in County Westmeath went tragically wrong on Thursday.

A third man from Portadown is still missing after a search on Friday was hampered by poor weather.

Members of the Lough Ree RNL, police and dive teams and fishermen have been searching for the missing man.
