Planning has finally been secured for an advertising big screen in High Street, at the bottom end of Portadown.

The proposal by local company Digital Hype had originally been turned down, but last night (Wednesday) it was given the go-ahead by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

The LED screen will be erected within the next three weeks and will replace the existing Sports Therapy NI sign.

Bobby Lappin, who runs the business with Matthew Oliver, said he was “over the moon” and thanked everyone involved in making it possible,

In arguing for the scheme to be approved, the men said it made good economic sense for the town and had the support of at least 70 other businesses.

The sign, measuring 3.5mx2m (11.5x6.5ft) will advertise the services of local firms.
