Attempted murder accused didn't want to apply for bail

A 35-year-old Lurgan man accused of the attempted murder of a police officer in Eglinton last year said he didn't want to apply for bail during a video link appearance at Derry Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A PPS spokesperson told the Court that complete CCTV footage relating to the case against Sean McVeigh, of Victoria Street, will be ready on Friday and will be distributed to the PPS and his defence.

During the appearance, Mr McVeigh said: “I don’t wish to apply for bail.”

He will appear again via videolink on October 31.
