Vandals who burned a bin and spilled the contents of other bins along the Tandragee/Armagh Road last week have been slammed by Cusher DUP Councillor Gareth Wilson.

Mr Wilson said the bin was destroyed close to a road junction at the entrance to Marlacoo Lake, and could have caused a serious accident.

He added, “Further along the road, a number of bins had been emptied on to verges and across the road surface at various locations.

“A local businessman also had a sign for his business damaged which had only recently been refurbished.”

“Firstly, I want to condemn those responsible for this vandalism and to set fire to a bin in very foggy conditions, close to a road junction, was totally moronic and could have caused a serious accident.

“Secondly I want to praise the council officials who were out from early on Friday morning cleaning up the mess.

“They responded quickly and efficiently and deserve credit for their work. This type of mindless vandalism has a cost attached to it in terms of bin replacements and council staff time in cleaning up the rubbish.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact police and assist them with their inquiries.”
