The resurfacing of the Bleary Road at Drumnacanvy outside Portadown has been welcomed.
Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson described the scheme as a “victory for residents” and predicted it would make a “massive difference” to the area.
“I and my colleagues have been lobbying the Minister for some time on their behalf,” she said. “Alongside the general deterioration of the road surface some residents were also experiencing serious flooding problems because of surface water running off the road and onto their private properties.
“I am pleased that Transport NI have confirmed to me that in the coming weeks they have agreed as part of the resurfacing scheme that ‘additional drainage will be provided on the road to prevent ponding on the carriageway.’
“We very much welcome Transport NI’s engagement with residents throughout this process and their agreement to put right the flooding problems.”
