Portadown-based solicitor’s practice, Walker Legal, has announced six new full-time solicitor posts.

The announcement came during an event marking the opening of the company’s new offices in Belfast.

Walker Legal, which has grown significant over the past 18 months, identified six young legal graduates last year and offered them the chance to become full time solicitors - supporting them through their time at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies at Queen’s University, Belfast.

Those new lawyers will now have the opportunity to work directly with the senior team in the practice, both in Belfast and Portadown.

Announcing the new members of the team, Andrew Walker said that he was proud to see how quickly the practice was growing, and delighted to welcome the cream of new legal talent on board.

“At Walker Legal we’ve tried to do things differently, to work with and support our staff and to identify the highest level of service to our clients,” Mr Walker said.

“That approach is bearing fruit and we now have a team to be proud of, with more announcements to come.

“We have launched our new branding and opened our new Belfast offices in recent times, as well as working hard to build our profile across Northern Ireland. Unlike other practices, we have taken a ‘whole person’ approach to our employees, supporting work/life balance and ensuring that staff feel valued and are supported.

“The key for us at Walker Legal is not only for them to have their legal qualifications and to be able to practice as a solicitor but to be well rounded and able to connect with people and understand their needs.

“Our trainees will not only learn what is needed to practice law and give the best quality advice but they will also learn what it takes to run a business with elements of business development, accounting and team building an integral part of their training.”

The company specialises in a range of legal services, including corporate, dispute resolution, property, private client and family law, and has seen its profile rise sharply recently.

The new graduates, Laura Frazer, Sarah Leathem, David Scullion, Ellen Hartles, Hannah Grimley and Catherine Magee, will now begin their legal career at one of Northern Ireland’s fastest growing practices.
