There’s been a call for an immediate halt to the LED street light installation across the area.

Sinn Fein Councillor Keith Haughian called for the to allow residents concerns to be addressed.

Cllr Haughian said: “Concerns have been raised across the area at the LED lights currently being used in a pilot scheme.

“No consultation appears to have taken place with either affected residents or relevant statutory agencies. For example, the PSNI have raised security and safety concerns.

“Residents affected have expressed fear and anxiety because of the darkened and shadowed environment which is the outcome of the new street lighting.”

“I appreciate the decision for the new lighting scheme was made by the previous DRD Minister. But I am now calling on Minister Michelle McIlveen to call an immediate halt to this scheme, to address the concerns of constituents.”
