Car involved in road accident sold due to ‘brake problems’

A motorist who drove into the rear of another vehicle was fined £120 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention on May 27 last year.

Thirty-eight-year old Francisca Teolinda Rocha Veso, The Beeches, Portadown, also received three penalty points and was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that an accident took place on Lake Road, Craigavon, when the defendant drove into the rear of the injured party’s vehicle. She had not been driving a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

The injured party received whiplash injuries and there was damage to the rear of the vehicle.

A solicitor for the defendant said she subsequently sold her car because of brake problems.

He added that she was going to Lurgan to meet a friend and accepted that she drove too close.
