Ballymagerney Free Presbyterian Church in Loughgall will officially open its new building tomorrow (Saturday).

The opening marks almost 10 years of planning and fundraising and more than two years of building work.

The new premises, just a short distance from the old church, will provide more space and modern facilities, including a car park, for the 42 families who are members.

Moderator of the Presbyterian Church the Rev Thomas Murray will be the preacher at tomorrow’s service which starts at 7pm.

Dr Stephen Pollock, who has been minister at Ballymagerney for the past 20 months, said reaching this point had been a long process for parishioners but that the new, bigger building would “enable more people to come and hear the gospel of Christ”.

The opening will also mark the start of a two-week mission, from Sunday, September 27 to Friday, October 9.

Preacher at the opening day will be former Moderator, the Rev John Greer.

There will be different speakers each day with services on Sundays at 3.30pm and on weeknights at 8pm.
