Concerned parents at nursery meeting

More than 60 parents attended a meeting at Craigavon Civic Centre last Friday to discuss the shortage of suitable nursery places.

It was hosted by Craigavon David Simpson who said he was taken aback this year by the level of complaints.

He has requested an urgent meeting with the SELB and the Department of Education and will work with individual parents in trying to resolve placement issues.

Mr Simpson said the area was under ”significant strain” and that allowance needed to be made for the birth rate and the level of increased housing.
