Controlled explosion carried out in Tandragee

The Madden Road in Tandragee was closed for a period on Wednesday night as police dealt with a suspicious object.

A controlled explosion was carried out on an aerosol tin with a battery attached to it and the incident was declared a hoax.

The item was discovered by a passer-by who reported it to the PSNI.

Cusher DUP Councillor Gareth Wilson said the incident had caused great inconvenience and had required expensive security resources.

He added, “I would thank the security personnel for their quick response and expertise in dealing with this incident and would ask that anyone involved in leaving these hoax style devices stops such ridiculous behaviour immediately.”
