While in Debenhams in Craigavon a 52-year-old woman put perfume down her trousers and left the store without paying for the item.

Paula Margaret Bell, Gosford Gardens, Markethill, admitted the theft of Angel Perfume, valued at £45, on September 25. She was given a conditional discharge for 18 months.

She was seen placing the goods down her trousers and leaving the store. The goods were fit for re-sale.

A defence barrister said she did not know what happened on the day.

She added that her client felt the compulsion to take the perfume and since this happened she had stopped going to the shops.

The barrister added she was very embarrassed at what happened.
