Drove out on to wrong side of the road

When a lorry drove out at a junction onto the wrong side of the road it caused a collision with a car, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Keith Andrew Cunningham (38), of Kernan Avenue, Portadown, was fined £150 for driving without due care and attention on May 17 this year.

He was also given three points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that police received a report of a two-vehicle collision at Mill Hill in Waringstown.

They found that a lorry had emerged from Churchill Place onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a car.

Considerable damage was caused to both vehicles as a result of the collision.

The car was beyond repair and the driver suffered back and face injuries, the court was told.

A solicitor representing Cunningham said he was only driving the cab of the lorry with nothing attached at the time.

The solicitor added that as a result of this accident Cunningham had lost his employment withthe company where he had been a driver since 2008.
