The rider of a scooter which was detected speeding in Portadown was disqualified from driving, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Evaldas Petrauskas (25), whose address was given to the court as Union Street, Portadown, admitted driving while disqualified at Seagoe Road, Portadown, on May 29 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to not having insurance, obstructing a constable, excess speed and not having a test certificate.

The court heard that at 10.42pm the defendant was travelling on a scooter at 46mph in a 30mph
zone.

When he was spoken to by police at first he gave false
details. Inquiries revealed there was no insurance in place and no test
certificate.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said that in view of the defendant’s record he would need a pre-sentence report.

It would be required to consider whether a custodial sentence should be applied, he explained.

Judge Bates adjourned the case until May 6.
