After she was involved in a road traffic accident it transpired that the insurance of a Lurgan woman had expired.

Alison Devlin (44), Hill Street, Lurgan, was fined £200 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without insurance on October 21 last year.

She was also given six penalty points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard there was a road traffic accident and it transpired the defendant’s insurance had expired on October 15.

She said that she forgot because of a family emergency.

A solicitor representing the defendant said her insurance expired on the date that her partner had a heart attack.

He added that she had to go to hospital and her attention was distracted.
