A 28-year-old man was banned from driving for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for an excess alcohol offence.
Saulius Borovkovas, whose address was given as Market Street Court, Tandragee, was also fined £175 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
As well he was fined £200 and banned for 12 months for not having insurance.
The court heard that at 1.50am on March 28 police saw a car being driven in Thomas Street, Portadown, and checks revealed there was no insurance in place.
They stopped the vehicle and when they spoke to the defendant who was the driver, there was a smell of alcohol on his breath. An evidential test gave a reading of 47.
Borovkovas, who pleaded guilty himself in court, said he was sorry.
He explained that he had just bought the car about a month before he was stopped.
