A drunk man who made sectarian remarks to police will be sentenced next month at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

John Paul Hall (50) of Obins Street, admitted disorderly behaviour on March 30.

The court heard that at 4.20pm in West Street, Portadown, the defendant, who was heavily intoxicated, was causing a disturbance.

He used foul and abusive language towards police and was warned on a number of occasions but continued with the abuse. There were members of the public in the area.

Hall said he wanted to be arrested and made sectarian comments to police.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said Hall had received a community sentence just two years ago and adjourned the case until June 12 for a pre-sentence report.
