A FINALIST in the Junior Face of Northern Ireland has been hard at work fundraising for two worthy charities - The Rainbow Child Foundation and Headway.
So far, Ellie Rose Delaney, who lives at Rose Cottage in Portadown, has raised the grand total of £1,005.
The next event planned is a line dancing night on Friday, August 10 in Portadown British Legion. Admission is £5 and you can pay at the door. It will include a light supper and a raffle.
Before finishing school for the summer, the eight-year-old , who is going into P4 at Ballyoran PS, held a coffee morning for teachers, raising £110. Cakes and cupcakes were donated by Juliesbakedwithlove, Armagh, and Wee Buns, Portadown.
She raised a further £130 through a raffle in High Street Mall Portadown, with the first prize of a summer hamper donated by the Mall and others by local businesses.
Drumcree College, which Ellie Rose’s sister Moe attends, donated £100 and last weekend the 11-year-old and her friends did a sponsored walk in Peatlands Park.
Her mum Siobhan said, “Ellie Rose has loved her charity work. She loves helping people less fortunate than herself and has stepped outside her comfort zone to do this. The aim of the Junior Face of Northern Ireland is to teach that beauty comes from within....a very valuable lesson.
“Ellie has worked hard and her beauty is definitely shining. As her mother I am very, very proud of her as are the rest of the family.”
The final of the competition will be held on August 21 at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry.
