Starring role of Sandy in Grease for talented Zoe

Zoe Managh from Richhill has come through a tough audition process to land the role every young teenage girl just loves to perform.

Zoe, a 16-year-old pupil of the Royal School in Armagh will perform as Sandy in Moyraverty Arts and Drama’s Summer big summer production of Grease along with Lurgan girl Dairine McCaughley.

Show producer Kieran Corr said, “We are all delighted for Zoe who performed so well at our auditions.

“Zoe is a lovely singer and a fine actor who has come through the ranks at MADS!

“Previous shows include performing in our Big Band Concert at The Civic Centre, The Countess in Cinderella and as Miss Hannigan in Annie.

“Zoe also attends the Shelley Frazer Lowry school of speech and drama based at The Seagoe Hotel.

“Zoe just loves performing on stage and is delighted to be given this great opportunity to perform as Sandy.

“She certainly has a bright future ahead of her.”

Mr Corr added, “We have a cast of almost 40 for this production coming from Portadown, Lurgan, Brownlow and the surrounding districts.

“Grease is a great show to do with teenagers and features classic songs made famous by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John such as ‘You are the One That I Want, Summer Nights, Greased Lightning and Hopelessly Devoted To You.

“Grease has certainly stood the test of time and is as popular today as it was in the 1970s. Grease is a follow on from previous summer shows by MADS! such as ‘Joseph’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ’Les MIserables School Edition’ and ‘West Side Story’ which were all resounding successes.

“We have a strong production team consisting of Claire Louise McMahon, John Corry and Caitriona Corr who will return from London to be our vocal coach.“

The show opens in Portadown Town Hall Theatre on Thursday, 15th September, to Sunday, 18th September, with an 8pm start and there will also be a matinee show on Sunday, 18th September, at 3pm.

Tickets are on sale from Winnies Newsagents, Woodhouse Street, Portadown, Print Business Supplies in Lurgan, Greenes Nisa Local Brownlow Centre and Miss Mac Dance Studio Moores Land Lurgan. Tickets are priced at £10 with a concession rate of £8 for pensioners and U16s.

Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society was established in 2002.

They have produced hundreds of shows and musicals.
