Tales of the sea at WI Drumcree

Fishermen's wives from Kilkeel were the guest speakers at the April meeting of Drumcree Women's Institute.

The women told the audience, which included visitors from Whitehall and Tartaraghan WIs, how they became fishermen’s wives and how lonely and dangerous the job can be. They travel around different groups promoting fish and encouraging everyone to include fish in their diet.

Fish was cooked and enjoyed, plus purchased.

The supper prize was won by Marie McReynolds, Jean Clarke celebrated her birthday and the competition for a favourite tea towel was won by Elizabeth Cochrane.

President Johanna Robinson asked everyone to raise their glasses to toast Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on her 90th birthday. A birthday card was also sent to the palace for the special occasion.
