Local residents kicked off their Christmas festivities in style last Friday at the ever-popular Christmas lights switch on in Portadown.

The crowds were entertained by fun-filled performances from the enchanting Soul Truth Band featuring Andy Whittaker, Moyraverty Arts and Drama Society (MADS), sparkling danceperformances from the Pamela Cassells School of Performance and FADD studios plus captivatingcarols from local primary schools.

Counting down to the Portadown Christmas lights switch-on are Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Garath Keating and compere Paul Clark.

Compered by TV favourite Paul Clark, Santa Claus sleighed into town to help the Lord Mayor switch on the bright lights.

Commenting at the event, Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Garath Keating, said: “The switch on was a great success, with fantastic performances and entertainment – the atmosphere was electric. It was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of the festive period in the town.”
