Health Centre staff raise money for charity

Staff at Portadown Health Centre's Riverside Practice have raised the phenomenal sum of £2,455 for local cancer charity, Friends of the Cancer Centre.

The money was raised from a recent coffee morning which was held in memory of their friend and colleague, Dr Morton.

Practice Manager Christina McKeever decided to organise the coffee morning to raise funds in memory of Dr Morton who had worked at the practice for the last 33 years.

Commenting on what motivated the fundraising drive, Christine said: “Like most people, we’ve had a number of people close to us who have been affected by cancer and when our dear friend and colleague Dr Morton lost her battle with cancer, we wanted to show our support to a charity that meant so much to her. Dr Morton attended the Cancer Centre and always spoke of the tremendous care and support that she received during her treatment. We also knew that by supporting Friends of the Cancer Centre we would be giving something back and helping other families affected by cancer.”
