A husband and wife from Portadown were both fined for drugs offences last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

They were 33-year-old Alexander Robert James Graham and 28 year old Rachel Graham, both of Breagh Hill.

He was fined £200, with a £15 offender’s levy, for possession of cannabis on March 12 this year and £300 for possession of cocaine.

She was fined £200, with a £15 offender’s levy, for possession of cocaine on the same date.

The court heard a search was carried out of their house and bags of white powder were found in a shoe box in the attic.

Mr Graham made a full admission and also produced a bag of cannabis. Mrs Graham said she had found the cocaine and cannabis in the garage and had hidden them from her husband.

A barrister for both defendants said they had assisted police at the scene and were very distressed by the prosecution.

He had explained that Mr Graham had previously mixed with the wrong crowd and experimented with drugs.

The lawyer added that Mrs Graham had put the drugs out of the reach of her husband and the children. She did not report it to police because she was afraid she might get into trouble.

Mr Graham had now cut himself off from his former associates, he said.
