More Slimming World consultants are being sought in Portadown as the organisation prepares to set up around 12 new groups in the area.

The groups will begin in January across the Craigavon area and leader Amanda Girvan stressed that no experience is necessary as all training is provided.

An information night on becoming a consultant is being held on Friday, October 9 in Armagh City Hotel from 6-8pm.

Said Amanda, “We are opening six groups to start with but we aim to double these by the end of January. We supply first class, full training and support and flexible working hours.

“It’s a hugely satisfying role with a great income and part-time hours for full-time pay.

“No prior experience is necessary, just a warm heart and a desire to help people.”

The Slimming World groups in the Portadown/Lurgan area are among the most successful in the UK and just last week, Amanda attended an award day in Derbyshire, to celebrate their achievements.

Amanda is a weight loss consultant for the Portadown Slimming World groups and a team developer for the Co Armagh area, managing 13 other consultants.

As part of the day, which was the ‘thank You’ event held by the organisation solely for team developers, Amanda was invited to discuss best practice, as well as sharing ideas for building and managing successful local teams.

Said Amanda, “With the health risks posed by rising obesity rates, it’s never been more important that people are able to access regular effective support from people who care and who really understand what it’s like to struggle with weight.”
