The Doran family were an institution in Lurgan and almost every local family has bought at least one item from the old fashioned shop.

Mr Doran, who was in his 90s, worked in the store until his late 80s and was often seen climbing a ladder to find a certain size of screw or wrench.

He was always attentive and polite, listening intently to what type of item you might need.

Customers were always astounded at how he knew immediately where everything was.

It was felt that Denis (who was also known as Danny) sold everything and it was often said that if Danny Doran’s doesn’t have it, it hasn’t been made.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and entire Lurgan community.

Denis Doran was the husband of the late Rose and father to John, Eddie, Catherine and the later Mary and grandfather of Molly.

His funeral is from his home at 52 Brankinstown Road, Aghalee for Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10am at St Peter’s Church in Lurgan.
