Rehoming dogs ‘a vocation, not a job’ for owner
FROM:Louise Tennyson-Brady
I wish to express my sincere thoughts to John Breen of Hilltop Kennels for not getting the tender for Craigavon dog pound. I have known John for many years. His work was not a job but a vocation. He treated the dogs as if they were humans. He did anything he could not to put a healthy dog down. As John walked along the pound he would give them all attention. He constantly had a brush and mop in his hand as he didn’t like the dogs to have dirty pens, not even for a minute.
The smile on John’s face was so apparent when he knew he had rehomed a dog to a good family. That was John’s life. Day or night, he was there for a stray dog. I was glad to see a picture of him in your paper but unfortunately it was for all the wrong reasons. John should have been in it for an award for care, attention and most of all love that he had given to all the stray and abused dogs that he has had in his care.
I would like to ask to the public to actively get behind John and support him in his now private business of kennels. A dog that will go to Hilltop Kennels will be very happy and privileged one.
