An Armagh man has described the “crazy situation” in Paris last night as terrorist attacks in the French capital left 127 people dead
Dr Paddy Gray, who was brought up in Armagh, was in an Irish bar in the city watching a football match when news of the attacks reached him.
The University of Ulster Professor told the BBC he was “nervous and apprehensive” as the situation developed.
“I walked up towards my hotel, this car stopped and [was left] abandoned,” he said. “So police told us to run. I ran down this road and I was panicking and ended up being pulled into this entry by these people.
“We stopped there for quite a while in the dark.
“There were police marching up and down, all armed, of course.
“The next thing this nice gentleman came out and told us to come into his house - I don’t know who he is and I can’t really communicate with anybody either.”
