Over 200 people have attended a vigil in Portadown tonight in support of the families affected by the angling tragedy in the Republic.

Upper Bann MP David Simpson, Mayor Mark Baxter and Craigavon councillors were among those who attended the vigil at Shillington’s Quay, along with members of the Portadown Pikers Club.

David Warnock from Richhill died after he was rescued from the water in Lough Ree on Thursday afternoon. A second man is in a stable condition in hospital while a third man, a father-of-three from Portadown, is still missing. The men’s boat capsized on Thursday afternoon as they went on a fishing trip.

The search for the missing man has been called off for the night and will resume on Sunday morning.
