Many staff members are participating in the Mourne 7 Peak Challenge which takes place on Sunday 13th August.

The Challenge is set to be a great physical test for all of the staff members involved - with the aim to climb all seven peaks in the Mourne Mountains that are 700m or more above sea level.

With a distance of 18 miles and 2,495m to climb, it is no mean feat!

Following a fixed route, walkers will start with Slieve Donard, followed by Slieve Commedagh, Slieve Lamagan, Slieve Binnian, Ben Crom Dam, Meelbeg, Meelmore, Slieve Bearnagh and then back to the finish in Donard Park, Newcastle.

Mia McKeown, HR Manager, from Avondale Foods is also taking part in an Everest Base Camp Trek in September and she will be reaching heights of over 18,000 feet.

This is a huge challenge to take on board - but it will be fantastic accomplishment in the end.

Mia has already raised funds for NI Chest Heart & Stroke this year, when she participated in the Belfast Marathon back in May.

Today in Northern Ireland, 10 people will suffer a heart attack and one in every seven deaths will result from respiratory disease.

In addition to this, over 200,000 people are living with long term chest, heart, or stroke conditions.

In fact, 40% of adults deaths in Northern Ireland are from chest, heart or stroke conditions.
