The state-of-the-art Brownstown Park Community Centre was officially re-opened during a launch event and family fun day last weekend.

Craigavon Borough Council has invested over £2million refurbishing the centre and equipping it with excellent facilities including a 3G floodlit pitch, a revamped main hall, a new multi-use studio, up to date kitchen facilities, additional car parking spaces and meeting rooms which can come together to make one main room or smaller meeting rooms which individuals and businesses can book.

The official re launch took place last Friday. The council worked closely with local communities, users groups and staff to design a bright modern centre that will meet community expectations and need.

The family fun day took place on Saturday and was the perfect opportunity for the local community to check out the centre’s fantastic features. With sports activities, face painting, Zumba taster sessions, magic show, balloon modelling, jewellery making, arts & crafts and lots more there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Mayor of Craigavon Councillor Mark Baxter, said, “This wonderful new addition to the area offers a wide range of cutting-edge facilities for the whole community – from conference space to a 3G floodlit pitch there really is something for everyone. I was delighted to see so many people from the local community join us at the official launch and the family fun day which showcased what the Centre has to offer.”

He adds, “This fantastic development shows that Craigavon is leading and can deliver for its residents. Councillors working with officers from the council’s development department have worked very hard to produce such a wonderful facility and I wish the centre all the very best.”
