Choirs from across the borough will congregate in St Mark’s Church tonight (Friday) for an evening of choral celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of Portadown.
Portadown Male Voice Choir, Portadown Ladies’ Choir and St Mark’s Parish Church Choir will be joined by the Counterpoint Choir, originally known as the McCready Singers.
The evening will be conducted by Gordon Speers, who conducts both Portadown men and ladies’ choirs.
It will comprise both sacred and secular choral music and is set to be a real celebration with local, inter-denominational church choirs joining in as well as audience participation throughout the evening.
The evening takes place from 8-9.30pm. Tickets are free and can be booked online at www.choralcelebration.eventbrite.co.uk or from Millennium Court Arts Centre.
Mr Speers said, “The choirs taking part have worked extremely hard to bring together a great programme of festivities, and we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors.”
