Work has started on a new puffin crossing on the Loughgall Road, after a year of campaigning to have one erected.
The safety push began after a pensioner was knocked down and seriously injured while trying to cross the road.
Roads Service said the scheme, costing £30,000, will last for three to four weeks.
Meanwhile, in a separate scheme, West Street is closed to through traffic for resurfacing work until Tuesday, February 4. The roundabout at the junction of West Street and Brownstown Road will also be closed from 6pm today (Friday) until 8pm on Tuesday, with traffic being diverted.
